One of the most important ways in which we can help our students perform better in their classrooms is to provide the nutrition necessary for the healthy growth of their minds and bodies. That’s why the Liberty Central School District serves free meals—lunch and breakfast—to all students, regardless of income status.
Staff and students alike enjoy the benefits of fresh vegetables and fruits in our cafeteria, thanks to our salad bars that feature romaine lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, chicken, and beans, as well as cheese and bread. We also offer plenty of fruits and vegetables, especially at LES, thanks to our participation in the Fruit and Vegetable Grant Program.
A focus on local food is also important, so we are introducing NY Thursdays to our menus to promote what is in our own “backyards” and give the students a full Taste of NY.
